Click 'start' and type 'services'. Select 'Run as administrator'.

On the Services screen, scroll down to 'Security Center'. If this service is

not running, try to start it. Double click the service to see its controls.

If they are not greyed out, set the Startup Type to Automatic (delayed

start), Click 'Start' and then 'OK'. If the service is now running, go back

to Windows Defender and determine its status.
