Install Windows 3.1 in DOSBox to run old 16-bit Windows games on 64-bit versions of Windows, Mac OS X, Linux, and anywhere else DOSBox runs. This is particularly useful as only 32-bit versions of Windows can run those 16-bit applications. Windows 3.1 was actually just an application that ran on DOS, and DOSBox is an emulator designed to run DOS and DOS applications.

DOSBox emulator port for Windows Phone. Not all DOS games are supported (due to the ARM CPU performance and hardware limitations) but a lot of good old games (including Sierra's quests, Warcraft, Heroes of Might & Magic and many more) are working fine. Its also possible to run Windows 3.1 and Windows 95 on phone! Under dosbox in windows 95. It goes up to 32 bits color and beyond 800x600!! The soundcard works fine btw, and further nothing seems not working except a way to install or run win 95 games.

Summary This guide is modestly about operating MS-DOS programs, or Windows 95, games and other goodies on your Android device with Magic DOSBox. Covering setup, install and customization.

Introduction Lets face it, modern games on Android are… Good. Thing I dislike is that majority of them are kept alive with micro transactions, or have a cooldown implemented gameplay. Like for example Godus, a strategy game in which you build a civilization that advances through ages. Another example is Asphalt 8, an arcade racing game where you compete with other players and their much better vehicles.

Granted sure some do not have those. For example like The Silent Age, a point and click adventure game. Pixel Dungeon, arcade survival game. Jet Car Stunts, racing game with obstacles.

Truth thing is that I like those games; saddening thing it’s only a small portion and can get quickly tedious. When I found out about aDOSBox somewhere around 2015 I was amazed. My first test was Full Throttle I have on an old CD, at that time I had a Motorola Defy. This was so mind blowing because now I realized that a whole decade of old video games can be played on my phone!

There is this Youtube channel called DOS Nostalgia ran by Anatoly Shashkin. In one of his “MS-DOS in Post-Soviet Russia” podcast he said that DOS and early windows were the only gaming platform in Russia back in the 90s, excluding console knockoffs… Through out my childhood this was true until 2012.

Thus this is something that I am passionate about.

The one of the beauties that this app has is that on PC version of DOSBox you have to manually type command after command to configure the current session to suit the game you want install and play. But alas this app automatically configures your game’s session with a simple user interface, like picking mount locations, CDs and sound settings.

Another beauty is that the app is just absolutely customizable with on screen buttons, and updates are keeping being released!

So far there isn’t a complete guide about the app, although a lot can be found in the active forums. But do not tremble! I am gonna be improving this guide with edits beyond the current version.

Setup Here are things that you are going to need:

Windows 95 On Magic Dosbox

• Android 4.0+ smartphone.

• 32gb+ of internal storage.

• Magic DOSBox for Android. The free version is okay.

• Any DOS game. For this example I am gonna be using abandoned Xenon 2 Megablast from myabandonware.com

• Recommended Bluetooth devices. Be it a mouse, keyboard or even a controller.

• Recommended microSD card. I mean right it’s DOS games so most will take around 145kb – 190mb, although it greatly depends on time period. Some later ones like Gabriel Knight 2 can take 3gb of space! I use mine to hold the install files.

Install Now the fun part:

• Open your phone’s file manager.

• Choose internal storage. Create a folder called “aGames” in the default directory, it’s usually where DCIM, Downloads or Music folders are located. This folder will contain your games.

• Inside the aGames folder create another one called XENON2… Or just simply Xenon 2 Megablast.

• Download Xenon 2 Megablast then extract it into the XENON2 folder.

• Head on to Google Play and install Magic DOSBox then launch it.

Dosbox Windows 95 Games

• On the left there are three buttons. Settings, Add and Edit icons. Click Add.

• The Title will display the shortcuts name and in the app, type Xenon 2 Megablast

• Enable SVN core. This option allows you to save game sessions. It takes a snapshot in game which then will allow you do load it, it’s a save and load! Useful for games don’t allow saving, like Xenon.

• For Drive C: Click on choose. This shows the storages your phone has, one is the internal storage and the other is the SD card.

• Click on the internal and scroll to find aGames folder and click on it, then click on XENON2 folder. Now click on the green checkmark.

• Enable PC Speaker.

• Choose Sound Blaster Pro 2.0 for sound, picking older versions of SB can improve game speed and sound on older Android devices. For example as old as HTC myTouch 4G.

Run Windows 95 In Dosbox

• Cycle to 64MB for memory.

• Enable XMS, EMS and UMB. These and enabled on default.

• Choose Simple for Cpu.

• Enable Automatic adjustment for Performance. The Max option allows to edit Audio settings in sound, useful to fix some bugged noises if there are any, even if trying different sound cards.

• In Software click on Choose. Most of the actual games on DOS have .exe, .com or .bat extensions.

  Biham-Kocher attack (this attack is possible when you have part of the text). Stay attack (also plaintext based)Also (from which I got most of my information) suggests that if you used a recent winzip (which is suspected since you encrypted this last year), the encryption is AES with a 128 or 256 bit key. Dictionary attack. This means you can do nothing more but try a bruteforce attack. Password crack zip file.

• Click on the called XENON2.exe

• Finally click on the checkmark at the very bottom.
